The Forever Era: the WoW Forever addon
Brings the data of theforeverera.com into WoW Forever: changes, BiS and where each item comes from in your tooltips, what to train and which talent to take at each level, where to level and a summary of every dungeon. All with the mouse, from one window.
What it does
It brings the site into the game
- A window with six tabs: Home, BiS, Talents & level, Zones, Dungeons and Share, plus Options and About.
- In item tooltips: whether an item is new or changed in Forever, with up to four differences from Classic, and whether it is BiS for your class.
- Where each item comes from: who drops it, which quest gives it, who sells it, which container holds it and how it is made.
- Spells and talents that are new, changed or moved, and quests that are new or changed in WoW Forever, with their level.
- Recipes new in Forever and how they are learned, Merchant’s Favor and camping.
- When you level up, the chat tells you which spells you can train now and the next talent of your plan.
- When you enter a dungeon or raid, a panel with its bosses, the loot that is for you and what changed.
It records what your client already shows you
- Where NPCs and objects stand.
- Who gives and who takes each quest.
- Quest and book texts.
- Vendors and trainers, with their prices.
- The experience quests really give.
- Loot and rares.
It stays on your computer until you export it. What you share appears on the site labelled “Logged in game”.
All with the mouse
You never need to type anything: the /tfe shortcuts are optional, for those who prefer the keyboard.
It sends nothing to anyone
No chat, no addon messages, no network. What it records only leaves if you copy the export yourself.
Free software
GPL-3.0 licence. The source code is in the zip, and it needs no libraries or other addons.
Download and install
- Download the addon from CurseForge or Wago. It is not published yet: it will be on CurseForge and Wago, and the links will be here.
- Unzip it into the game’s
World of Warcraft\_classic_beta_\Interface\AddOns\folder. You should end up with…\AddOns\TheForeverEra\TheForeverEra.toc. - Start the game. On the character selection screen click AddOns and check that “The Forever Era” is ticked. If it shows as out of date, tick Load out of date AddOns.
Made for the WoW Forever 1.60.1 client. Interface number: 16001.
To update it, replace the TheForeverEra folder with the new version’s: your settings, plans and recorded data stay.

How to use it
How to open the window
- The book button on the edge of the minimap: a click opens or closes the window, a right-click opens Options, and you can drag it around the minimap.
- The addon menu next to the minimap, if your minimap has it.
- Esc › Options › AddOns › The Forever Era.
- The [Open] at the end of the addon’s chat notices.
- The book buttons in the talent, character and class trainer windows.
- The window closes with the X or with Esc, in combat too, and remembers where you left it.

Talents & level- Paste a link from the site’s talent calculator (Ctrl+V, then Save) and the addon tells you which talent to take at each level. Next to it, the spells of any level, with what is new in Forever. Talent calculator →
Zones- The zones and dungeons for each level bracket from the site’s leveling guide, for the Alliance or the Horde, with a link to the route. Leveling guide →
Dungeons- Every dungeon and raid: its levels, its bosses (grey once you have killed them), the loot that is BiS or an upgrade for you and what changed in WoW Forever. Every dungeon →
Share- Your build link, the site pages of the last things you looked at, the export of what the addon recorded, erasing it, and the addon’s status.
Privacy
- It stores no player names (not yours either: your name in quest texts becomes $N), no realm, no guild, no chat and no identifiers (GUIDs).
- It never stores letters written by players.
- It sends nothing to anyone: no chat, no addon messages, no network. The data only leaves if you copy the text of Share › Export….
- It never asks the server for items nobody has seen: it only reads what the game is already showing you.
- Your settings, your talent plans and the spec you pick for BiS stay in your SavedVariables and are never exported.
Licence and credits
The Forever Era is free software under the GPL-3.0. The full text (LICENSE.txt), the credits (CREDITS.txt) and all the source code are in the zip. GPL-3.0 text ↗
- Classic data: the sources marked “Classic data”, their drop chances, the English NPC, quest and object names and the quest levels come from CMaNGOS Classic-DB (GPL-3.0), never from its translations.
- Beta server: what is marked “Seen on the beta server” comes from the caches the server sends to the game client.
- Game data © Blizzard Entertainment, read from the WoW Forever client. The Forever Era is a fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment.
- theforeverera.com computes or writes the BiS lists, the leveling routes and notes, the Merchant’s Favor and camping tables, the change notes and the translations.
- No data from Wowhead or other fan sites or addons.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to type commands?
No. Everything is done with the mouse from the window. The shortcuts are optional, for those who prefer the keyboard: /tfe opens the window and /tfe help lists the others.
Does it send anything to anyone?
No. The addon uses no network, no chat and no addon messages. What it records only leaves if you copy the export and share it.
Where does its data come from, and how current is it?
It is a snapshot of theforeverera.com from the day the version was packaged; the About page and Share › Addon status show the date. New versions follow the site’s updates.
Does it need other addons or libraries?
No. It works on its own, with no external libraries.
Which game version is it for?
For the WoW Forever 1.60.1 client. If the addon list shows it as out of date, tick Load out of date AddOns.
What does it do while I play?
It only listens to game events: nothing runs every frame or on timers. It never buys anything, never changes the windows’ filters and never asks the server for item data nobody has seen.
How do I erase what it recorded?
In Share › Erase recorded data…, which asks before erasing. Your settings, your talent plans and your spec stay.
