Level 30 in the WoW Forever beta

What changes between level 20 and 30: where to level with each faction, which dungeons there are, which abilities you learn, how many talent points you have and which weapon to look for. Built on the beta client data and Blizzard's announcements.

Short answer

The WoW Forever beta already lets you reach level 30. The build that opened it brought a new dungeon, Excavation Site (26-31), and opened Razorfen Downs (25+) and Uldaman (30+). Levels 21 to 30 have 6 leveling zones as Alliance and 5 as Horde, and 9 dungeons in that range (8 confirmed by Blizzard in the beta). At level 30 you have 21 talent points, 10 more than at level 20.

Level 30 is open

Level cap today30Available now

The beta already lets you reach level 30. Blizzard announced it in an official notice: after the October 1 maintenance, the beta would come back with a new build and a level cap of 30. The changes in that build are in the October 1 development notes. It had already said so when the test opened, in the beta announcement: it started with a level cap of 20 and would raise it to 30 later on. It is also on the roadmap.

What that build brings, according to the notes: the new dungeon Excavation Site (Wetlands, 26-31); access to Razorfen Downs (25+) and Uldaman (30+); barbershops in Darnassus and Thunder Bluff, with barbers in all of them; campfires that no longer damage characters below level 5 and deal reduced damage to those under 90% health; 50% less extra experience from dungeon quests, and faster respawns of creatures and objects in Hillsbrad Foothills, Ashenvale, Wetlands, Duskwood and Thousand Needles. Full notes

Blizzard will open more zones, dungeons and the new battleground as the test goes on; it ends on October 21. Below is what levels 21 to 30 bring according to the beta client.

Where to level from 20 to 30

General Classic knowledge

To level from 20 to 30, these are the zones of the 21-25 and 26-30 brackets of our zone leveling guide, bracket by bracket with their level range: main zones first and, in grey, the alternatives. Under each faction, the dungeons in that range the beta has open, with their levels (the green dot marks the ones new in Forever). Click a zone to open its page, with the map, its dungeons and its flight paths.

Dungeons from 20 to 30

Dungeons whose level range goes past 20 and starts at 30 or below, from lowest to highest. There is no scaling: each one stays at its level. 2 are new in Forever.

The October 1 notes also open Razorfen Downs (25+) and Uldaman (30+). They are not in the list because their level range starts above 30.

Abilities from 21 to 30

The abilities each class learns between 21 and 30, according to the beta client (talents not included). The number is the level it is learned at; the green dot marks abilities new in Forever. Click one to open its page.

On top of that, 10 abilities you already have get a new rank.

Talents at level 30

In Forever you get one talent point per level from level 10, up to 51, and each row of a tree needs 5 more points spent in that tree. This is how levels 20 and 30 compare:

At level2030
Talent points1121
Deepest row of a treerow 3row 5

The Talented node of Legacy, which moves your first points to levels 9 through 5, cannot be bought in the current beta build (its client flags it as not purchasable), so the table leaves it out.

Try your build at level 30 in the calculator:

Best weapon at level 30

For each specialization, the weapon with the highest score at level 30 among the items you can wear at that level. It is the site's suggestion from our stat weights, not an official list, and where each item comes from may change in Forever. Click the specialization to see the full level 30 gear with alternatives.

The Forever Open needs level 30

The Forever Open, the 1v1 duel tournament Tips Out, Esfand and Xaryu are running on the beta, is played at level 30 with brand-new Horde characters on the PvP ruleset. The qualifiers are on October 17 and the finals on October 18. It is a community event, not a Blizzard one.

With the beta cap already at 30, the Horde route in this guide is the one to follow to make it in time.
