Short answer

WoW Forever launches on November 4, 2026 at 3:00 PM PST (6:00 PM EST, 11:00 PM UTC, 10:00 AM AEDT on Nov 5). Before then, make sure your subscription or Game Time is active, your Battle.net app is up to date and, if you have an upgrade edition, your names are reserved (October 27 to November 3). When you create a character you pick a ruleset (Normal, PvP or Roleplaying) and start in your race's starting zone; the Skyborne start on Zephras Isle. Blizzard has not said whether there will be queues: if you cannot get in, check the server status page.

What time it opens where you live

Blizzard gives one time for the whole world: November 4, 2026 at 3:00 PM PST (Pacific Time). It is the same moment everywhere: 11:00 PM UTC. Here it is in other time zones, with yours marked:

Launch times

Blizzard’s official time: November 4, 2026 at 3:00 PM PST (Pacific Time). Here is when that is elsewhere:

  • Official time (PST) Wed, Nov 4 3:00 PM
  • New York (Eastern) Wed, Nov 4 6:00 PM
  • Chicago (Central) Wed, Nov 4 5:00 PM
  • London Wed, Nov 4 11:00 PM
  • Central Europe (Paris, Berlin, Madrid) Thu, Nov 5 12:00 AM
  • Mexico City Wed, Nov 4 5:00 PM
  • Bogotá and Lima Wed, Nov 4 6:00 PM
  • Buenos Aires Wed, Nov 4 8:00 PM
  • Sydney Thu, Nov 5 10:00 AM

Each city is shown in its own local time on launch day.

What to sort out beforehand

What is worth doing before November 4, going by what Blizzard has published:

  1. Reserve your names. With any upgrade edition, from October 27 to November 3 (Pacific Time), you can create and customize up to three characters; names are first come, first served. How name reservation works
  2. Get the Battle.net app and your PC ready. For the beta, Blizzard asked players to update their graphics drivers and run the Battle.net desktop app, which may need to update itself if you have not run it recently; there you selected World of Warcraft and, in the Game Version drop-down above the Play button, the version to install. With the launch, Forever stops supporting some older graphics cards: check yours.
  3. Have an active subscription or Game Time. Forever is included with a World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time; the packs are optional. The Skyborne Epic Pack ($59.99) and the Warcraft Forever Collection ($79.99) add 30 days of Game Time starting November 4, and the Skyborne race only comes with the upgrade editions, from the Skyborne Heroic Pack ($29.99) up. Price and editions
  4. Tell your friends. The upgrade editions include Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes (1 with the Heroic Pack and 3 in total with the Epic Pack or the Collection), emailed starting October 20: with one, a friend plays Forever without a subscription or Game Time from November 4 to 11 (Pacific Time). How they work
  5. Pick your class, race and ruleset. There are three rulesets at launch, Normal, PvP and Roleplaying, with Hardcore coming later; on PvP you can only have characters of one faction. If you are unsure: which class to pick, which race to pick and which ruleset.

Where each race starts

General Classic knowledge

Every race starts in its own starting zone. For the Skyborne, on both factions, it is Zephras Isle: according to Blizzard, a new level 1–12 starting experience, only with an upgrade edition. The other races start where they did in Classic, in zones to which Forever adds NPCs, quests, profession hooks and recipes.

The starting zones of the Classic races and their levels are general Classic knowledge; Zephras Isle and its 1–12 range were announced by Blizzard.

To meet friends who start on another continent, Forever adds new ship routes; according to Blizzard, Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine opens an early path between the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. Travel and transports

Queues, outages and errors

Blizzard has not said whether there will be login queues on launch day or how many players each ruleset will hold. What it has explained:

  • Forever has no realms: you pick a ruleset, which works like a large ecosystem of its own. According to Blizzard, the change is meant, among other things, to lessen the tradeoff between long queues and lasting communities.
  • The PvP ruleset will have systems to keep the Horde and the Alliance balanced, similar to Season of Discovery, where new character creation could be temporarily limited for a faction. The beta client already has the message: "This faction is currently unavailable on this ruleset due to population imbalance."
  • In the beta, some players got the login queue ("Realm is Full") after a disconnection; Blizzard found the issue and fixed it on September 27. What Blizzard said

If you cannot get in

  1. Check the server status page: every hour we gather Blizzard's notices about maintenance, queues and outages, and link its official channels, such as the support accounts on X and Bluesky.
  2. If the game disconnects you, the character list will not load or you get an error, look the message up in beta errors and fixes: what Blizzard has said about each one.
  3. If no official channel reports a problem, the issue may be your connection: follow Blizzard's connection troubleshooting guide, which we link.

The first hours

The first time you log in, a few settings Blizzard has explained:

  • Classic or modern look. You can choose between Classic and modern WoW visual presets, and between high-definition (HD) and standard-definition (SD) character models. If you choose Classic Mode when you first launch the game, transmog is disabled automatically when you enter the world; you can set it up or turn it off later at a transmogrifier in certain cities.
  • Your language. In the Game Menu (Escape) > Options > Languages and Social, under System, choose your Preferred Online Language to encounter players who share it. It is account-wide and, once changed, cannot be changed again for 24 hours. Step by step
  • Your second name. If you do not want it shown in the world: Escape > Options > Nameplates, then click the "My Secondary Name" checkbox. It still shows in chat. More about names
  • Legacy. At launch, each character can spend up to 16 Legacy Points in its trees. Legacy calculator

Leveling and finding people

What Blizzard has not said

With what has been published so far, these still have no official answer:

  • Whether there will be queues on launch day, or how many players each ruleset will hold.
  • Whether you can download the game before November 4, or from when the final version will be in the Battle.net app.
  • How it will open at 3:00 PM PST: Blizzard has given the launch time but has not explained whether you can log in at that exact minute.
  • Whether beta characters carry over to the full game: its beta and launch announcements do not mention it.

Are there queues to get into WoW Forever?

Blizzard has not said whether there will be queues at launch. It has explained that the realmless rulesets are meant to lessen the tradeoff between long queues and lasting communities, but it has given no numbers or guarantees. Its notices about queues and outages are on the server status page.

A World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. The packs are optional: they bring the Skyborne race, a mount and cosmetics, and the Epic Pack and the Collection also 30 days of Game Time.
