  1. Bear Form: the beta description says 180 for health, but that number comes from another effect; the client gives +20 health (+18 per level).
  2. Cat Form: the beta client stores attack power as 12 at level 6, not as 40 at level 20, with the same +2 per level (12 + 2 × 14 = 40). That is why the spell’s description says 12, but from level 20 the value is the Classic one.

What you can cast in each form

Each row is an active druid ability and each column a form. It comes from the form restrictions of each spell in the client, compared with Classic Era.

  • You can use it, as in Classic
  • New in Forever
  • Possible in Classic, not anymore

  • * Berserk has no form restriction in the client tables: it is shown with the forms its description requires (Bear Form, Dire Bear Form, and Cat Form).
  • Bear Form and Dire Bear Form share a model and allow exactly the same, so they share one column.
  • In Classic you cast Omen of Clarity; in Forever it is a passive ability. Its row marks with “–” where you could cast it in Classic.
  • Passives (Feline Grace) are not listed because they are not cast.

General shapeshifting changes

These are server rules the client does not show; here they are in our own words, with Blizzard’s official text linked. When the client data agrees, we say so.

  • You can use all potions and almost all similar consumables without leaving your form, and druids can now use rage potions and Thistle Tea. The exception is most Engineering bombs: only some new recipes (SAF-T and EZ-Thro) work in form.

    Blizzard’s deep dive

  • Weapon enchantments and procs work in form, such as weightstones, the Crusader enchantment or Windfury Totem.

    Blizzard’s deep dive

  • In Bear, Cat and Dire Bear Form your auto attack deals the damage per second of your equipped weapon, at a fixed speed of 1.0 or 2.5 sec depending on the form. Abilities that deal weapon damage use the same values.

    Blizzard’s deep dive

  • You can open most doors and use most objects without leaving your form.

    Blizzard’s deep dive

  • Racial abilities work in form, such as Shadowmeld, War Stomp or Walk on Air.

    Blizzard’s deep dive

  • Every form is immune to Disarm.

Development notes, 1 OctoberThe client confirms it

  • If you are disarmed before you shift, the form does not remove the Disarm and you deal less damage while it lasts.

    Development notes, 1 October

  • Nature's Grasp and Barkskin can be cast in any form.

Blizzard’s deep diveThe client confirms it

Frequently asked questions

Is there a new druid form?

Not in the beta client: it has the same druid forms as the Classic Era client. What is new are the rules of each form and the appearances for each race, the Skyborne ones among them.

How do you learn Cat Form?

You still learn it at level 20. The beta client also has a new spell, also called Cat Form, that teaches Cat Form, Prowl, Claw, and Rip at once. The client does not say who or what gives it to you.

Can I use potions without leaving my form?

Yes. According to Blizzard, all potions and almost all similar consumables can be used in form without losing it; the exception is most Engineering bombs.

What the client does not say

  • Server mechanics (weapon damage in form, rage from critical strikes, racials, doors and objects) are only in Blizzard’s texts: they are quoted here with their link.
  • The client stores the base value of each bonus and how much it grows per level; the exact value at your level is calculated by the server.
  • The table of what you can cast comes from the form restrictions of each spell in the client; the server may have exceptions that do not show there.
  • How each appearance is unlocked or chosen is not in the client, and there are no images of the models either.
