How to level fast from 1 to 60 in WoW Forever

What works in Forever, taken from the beta data: rest and Legacy, camping, which dungeons to run in each bracket, flight masters and transports, and each faction's zone route.

12
level brackets
29
dungeons
65
flight masters
16
Legacy points
Short answer

To level fast in Forever: rest in inns or capitals, take Well Rested in Legacy, use your campsite instead of going back to town, run your bracket's dungeons in a group, pick up every flight master and follow a zone route. With Well Rested maxed out, rest builds up 20% faster and its cap rises by another 20%. The full Alliance and Horde routes cover 12 five-level brackets. Forever does not scale zones to your level.

Rested experience and Well Rested

Logging out in an inn or a capital builds up rest, which doubles the experience from enemies until it runs out. It is the same Classic mechanic as always.

Well Rested, rank by rank (client text):

RankWell Rested
1Your rested experience accumulates 4% faster and your rested experience cap is increased by 4%.
2Your rested experience accumulates 8% faster and your rested experience cap is increased by 8%.
3Your rested experience accumulates 12% faster and your rested experience cap is increased by 12%.
4Your rested experience accumulates 16% faster and your rested experience cap is increased by 16%.
5Your rested experience accumulates 20% faster and your rested experience cap is increased by 20%.

Legacy perks for leveling

Each character has 16 Legacy points at launch, so they will not cover everything. These are the beta client perks that help you level; values are at max rank:

PerkTreeRanksEffect at max rank
Well RestedAdventure5Your rested experience accumulates 20% faster and your rested experience cap is increased by 20%.
Thrill of AdventureAdventure5You gain 5% of your maximum Health and Mana over 10 sec each time you deliver the killing blow to a non-trivial enemy. Ineffective in dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds.
Frequent FlierAdventure1You receive a 50% discount on all flight paths, and your flight path mount flies 20% faster.
Field GuideAdventure3Reduces your cooldown on adding Camp features by 25%
Field MedicineAdventure2Reduces the duration of the Recently Bandaged effect by 10 sec when you use a bandage. Ineffective in dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds.
GourmandResourcefulness3Increases the duration of beneficial effects from eating food by 100%.
PermanenceResourcefulness2Your class abilities which grant long-duration stat or attribute benefits to all party or raid members last 100% longer, and the benefits you gain from resting at a camp last 100% longer.
Reagent EconomyResourcefulness1Your class abilities no longer require reagents purchaseable from vendors.

Camping: fewer trips to town

The old Cooking Fire becomes a campsite:

  • The Cooking Fire becomes a Basic Campfire and creates a campsite.
  • Vendors, repairs and profession workbenches at the campsite.
  • Other players craft up to 3 objects (one per player) that give one-hour buffs.
  • Blueprint recipes for advanced objects drop from dungeon bosses.
  • Since build 70009 you can buff, cast and craft while waiting.
  • Since build 70170 (October 1), campfires deal no damage to characters below level 5 and less damage to anyone under 90% health.
  • The Boosted Rest debuff caused by the campsite has a new icon and a clearer tooltip, and its texts now say "mutually exclusive" instead of just "exclusive".

With Permanence in Legacy, the benefits of resting at a camp last longer: your class abilities which grant long-duration stat or attribute benefits to all party or raid members last 100% longer, and the benefits you gain from resting at a camp last 100% longer.

Zone route, bracket by bracket

Dungeons in each bracket

Dungeons whose level range falls in each bracket. There is no scaling: every dungeon stays at its level.

There is no Dungeon Finder announced, so groups are formed by hand. A guild or a fixed leveling group makes the difference, especially in the new dungeons.

Flight masters, boats and zeppelins

The beta client has 65 flight masters along the leveling route: 35 for the Alliance and 34 for the Horde (counting neutral ones). These are new in Forever:

Boats, zeppelins and the tram that save you the trip:

  • Boat: Stormwind Harbor ↔ AuberdineAllianceNew
  • Boat: Menethil Harbor ↔ SouthshoreAllianceNew
  • Boat: Menethil Harbor ↔ AuberdineAlliance
  • Boat: Steamwheedle Port ↔ Powderfuse PortBoth factionsNew
  • Boat: Booty Bay ↔ RatchetBoth factions
  • Boat: Menethil Harbor ↔ Theramore IsleAlliance
  • Boat: Rut'theran Village ↔ AuberdineAlliance
  • Boat: Feralas coast ↔ FeathermoonAlliance
  • Tram: Stormwind ↔ IronforgeAlliance
  • Zeppelin: Orgrimmar ↔ UndercityHorde
  • Zeppelin: Orgrimmar ↔ Grom'golHorde
  • Zeppelin: Undercity ↔ Grom'golHorde

With Frequent Flier in Legacy: you receive a 50% discount on all flight paths, and your flight path mount flies 20% faster.

Your mount already includes the riding skill. There are no flying mounts.

Food, talents and other details

  • Crafted food: it gives a small experience bonus, so Cooking is worth it while you level.
  • Talents: Forever brings two class presets for leveling. Each class guide gives the key talents for that class. The Talented node of Legacy, which moves your first talent points earlier, cannot be bought in the current beta build (its client flags it as not purchasable).
  • No level scaling: if a zone runs dry, move to the next one in the bracket instead of squeezing it.

How to level each class:

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to level from 1 to 60 in WoW Forever?

There is no reliable figure yet: the beta has a level cap, so nobody has timed a full leveling run in Forever. We are not going to make up a number.

Is there level scaling in Forever?

No. Zones and dungeons keep their level range; if a zone runs dry, move to the next one in the bracket.

Is there a Dungeon Finder?

Blizzard has not announced one for Forever.

Can I buy a level boost?

Blizzard's Forever announcements do not mention level boosts or the WoW Token, and none of the upgrade editions includes a level boost: see what each one includes.

What does Well Rested do?

It is a perk of the Legacy Adventure tree with 5 ranks. At max rank: your rested experience accumulates 20% faster and your rested experience cap is increased by 20%.

Which Legacy perks help with leveling?

Well Rested, Thrill of Adventure, Frequent Flier, Field Guide, Field Medicine, Gourmand, Permanence and Reagent Economy. See the details in the Legacy calculator.
